Medium of Artwork Determine into which of these 7 categories your entry fits.
2-Dimensional:
Any type of painting, drawing, wood burning, etc. that is created on a flat surface. That surface might be paper, canvas, wood, plastic, glass, or…whatever!
3-Dimensional:
Any sort of sculpture, carving, stained glass, fused glass, ceramics, mosaic, woodwork, beadwork, metalwork, etc. Basically, this would be a piece that isn’t flat, and doesn’t belong in any of the other categories that follow.
Black & White Photography:
Color Photography:
These 2 categories are pretty self-explanatory.
Fiber Art:
Typically, this will be something like a wall hanging, hat, scarf, afghan, sweater, jacket, pillow, etc. These items are to be made entirely of Samoyed hair, or a blend of fibers which includes at least some amount of Samoyed hair. They could be created by knitting, crocheting, weaving, etc. Needle felted pieces made with 100% Sammy hair or a blend are also appropriate for entry into this category.
-
Fiber Art, Embellished with Samoyed Hair-
This could include many different types of fiber-based items, as long as they are adorned/decorated with some amount of Samoyed hair. In other words, an entry in this category should not be made entirely of 100% Samoyed hair or blend, but it should include some in the piece and it should be a fiber item. A few possible ideas would include: a quilt with tassels made of Samoyed hair/blend, a fabric wall hanging with a Samoyed image made of Samoyed hair/blend, a clothing item with some Samoyed hair/blend incorporated into the design, etc. Let your imagination run wild!
Fiber Art, Samoyed Motif-
This includes items, made with any sort of fiber, which represent a Samoyed-themed design, but do not include Samoyed hair. Examples could be fabric paint applied to any sort of item, quilted pieces, knitted or crocheted items with a Samoyed in the pattern, stuffed pieces, etc. They should portray Samoyeds in some way. (NOTE: Needle felted items made without any amount of Samoyed hair could fit in this category.)
Level of Mastery
Determine whether each item is at the Amateur or Professional level.
Entries in each of the seven categories above are subdivided into two levels of mastery for the purposes of judging: Amateur and Professional.
Entrants shall determine their own level of mastery for each entry.
You might consider yourself a professional while working in one medium, and an amateur in a different medium. Make each entry accordingly.
Youth Entries:
For entries made by young artists, please designate into which age group that artist fits.
●0 to 7 years old
●8 to 12 years old
●13 to 19 years old
Items made by young artists will be judged along with those made by adults. However, the entry form has a place for young artists to indicate their age group.
If applicable, our judges will be designating a top item made by a young artist in each of the three age groupings listed above.
For Exhibition Only
Not interested in being judged? FEO is for you!
If you would love to share your creative work with the Samoyed community, but have no interest in the competitive aspect, you can still participate in the SCA 2025 Samoyed Art Show.
Check off the “For Exhibition Only” choice on your entry forms. Your masterpieces will be put on display for all to enjoy, but they will not be in competition for placements awarded by the judges.
Presentation of entries
Show off your masterpieces in the best possible way.
Make sure that your entries are presented in such a way that they will display well, and also be protected from damage.
Paintings and photography are best if matted and/or framed. We suggest you provide easels/tripods for your own pieces, if applicable. That will really help our committee make sure your pieces are displayed at their very best.
The artist’s name should be on each piece for ID purposes, but NOT in a place that will be visible (for the purposes of judging).
Don’t worry: Title/Artist cards will be put in place after the judging is done, so the artist will get credit for their talent and hard work!
Entry Forms and Payment of Entry Fees:
Fill out the entry forms, and pay the entry fees, in the SCA 2025 store.

Make sure your entries get to the airfield on time for take-off!
All entries are due to the Samoyed Art Show committee by 5pm on Tuesday, October 7.
